How to Keep your Skin Glowing on Budget – 5 Easy Tips

Believe it or not I never had a facial treatment.  I am not frugal, but we needed the money for other things. This Christmas we got a gift card for Massage Envy from my daughter, who is working now and can support herself.  We went there for what I thought would be a onetime facial as a treat to myself and a Swedish massage for my husband. We both felt rejuvenated and relaxed after the treatment.  I was a bit skeptical when the Manager started talking to me about membership, but there was a glowing happy couple next to me and I thought, I’ll just treat myself for the next 12-months.  That was few months ago. We continue to go there monthly. I often wait for my husband while he gets his massage in the tranquility room.  It is relaxing and for $60 a month we both feel good, connected and rejuvenated after each session.

Always Getting Compliments on Your Skin?

I’ve been getting compliments on my face since I was a child. I never had any problems. I always tell people that this is genetic. I try to keep my routine fairly simple and inexpensive. I’ve started using products when I was in my 20 I am using natural products I also take time every Sunday to make a face mask that my Grandmother taught me how too. As I am getting closer to 50 I see the impact of age. My skin is very sensitive and I‘ve been using mostly natural products to maintain my skin.  I am very selective, but the same time I want to stay on budget.

Natural Products and Zinc Oxide

Years ago I was using Yves Rocher’s  products to protect my skin from the daily attacks of pollution, sun or cold.  After my 40’s I decided to use natural products. One of my favorite is pure virgin olive oil.

The Italian sex symbol and Oscar winner Sophia Loren who still looks great in her 80’s, is using 2 table spoons of olive oil into her food. She also rubbed olive oil into her skin for glossy glow, according to Glamour.

One of her secrets is using Penaten Baby Cream. Penaten has been used for decades successfully for the treatment of diaper rash, sunburn, scalds, dermatitis and the relief of itching due to eczema, and relieves rash caused by heat and perspiration.
This skin-soothing wonder for babies and adults does miracle to your skin. Why, what I the secret?  The secret is Zinc Oxide, yes Zinc!
Zinc Oxide is one of the key ingredients in sunscreen formulations. It is known for its superior sun protection capabilities and preventing skin damage. In fact, it is the safest and most effective ingredient that protects the skin against long wave UVA rays. FDA has been approved zinc oxide as active ingredients to use in sunscreens.

As we got older, we cannot stop wrinkle forming on our skin. However, zinc oxide component will help us to reduce some wrinkles of skin and make us will be younger. Zinc oxide is chemical properties that used in skin care treatment. The fiber regeneration leads to relieve the wrinkle appearance. The topical zinc oxide when applied has many advantages to the skin.  You need to apply this cream at night, because is heavy and can leave white on your skin.  This cream is great also to keep down my Rosacea and eczema breakouts.

Wash your face at the right time

I love Salma Hayek, she has perfect skin? Do you agree? One of her secrets and mine is: Always wash your face before you go to bed. It’s very important to cleanse at night. She is using chamomile cleanser if I haven’t been wearing makeup, and an oil cleanser if she wearing makeup. I am using Albolene Moisturizing Cleanser, Fragrance Free from my local CVS.
Her rule number two: Never wash your face in the morning. Your skin regenerates during the night. Before you go out apply your Moisturizing cream and you make up. Don’t forget the lipstick.

In the morning I am using CeraVe® 3 oz. AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 (with hidden Zinc). It is formulated to increase the skin’s ability to retain moisture for long periods of time and forms a protective layer over your skin. I am applying this cream twice per day.

Why you should use Retinol?

Anti-aging ingredients come and go, but Retinol(retinoids) has been major players for decades. From what I know retinoids boost the production of collagen (one of the skin’s primary support structures) and prevent its breakdown as they work their way into deeper skin layers. There are many commercials and products, but one that works for me and is not expensive is CVS Retinol Deep Wrinkle Serum, 1 OZ.

I am using Retinol Serum before I go to bed after I do my new NuFace procedure. To help your skin heal and rejuvenate avoid collagen killers: smoking, too much sun, poor nutrition, stress. Drink at least few glasses of water a day or tea.

Your Eyes Need Attention

I have been using CeraVe Eye Repair Cream eye cream for a couple years now. My skin is sensitive and I love it because there is no fragrance, it is gentle, affordable, and the skin around my eyes is retaining its youthfulness.

Ancient Beauty Secret

The best beauty secret I have ever learned is from my grandmother, who had long and healthy life. She was using herbs and natural remedies to cure us and maintain her skin, body and mind.  She was using honey for everything from hair treatments to sore throat, cracked lips and her face. Her favorite mask was honey, egg and yogurt. I am using the same mask for years. After I leave the mask for 20 minutes, I am applying second mask the egg white around my eyes and my neckline. It helps reducing puffiness and double chin.

Exfoliate

Exfoliating is important routine to get of the surface dry skin cells and create a smoother appearance and younger-looking skin. Like everything in life it is never too late to do anything, including turning back the hands of time. I like to use homemade Sugar Scrub, it is equally good as one they are using at the spa salon. Here is one good recipe from Wellness Mama.  It will leave your skin feeling like silk.

I also like coconut oil not only to cook, but on my hands, nails and skin. I am going to do another article about natural remedies from my kitchen.
